Currently Instituto da Criança supports social initiatives in poor communities, like Day care Centers, shelters or a support center for victims of cerebral palsy. Apart from that IC runs several in-house programs, mainly focusing on education.
Instituto da Criança has already developed three different programs: Espaço Cidadão (“Citizen Forum”), an educational program aiming at orienting parents, which has reached 5.000 adults in five years, Hora da Leitura (“Time To Read”), an extracurricular program to encourage reading among children and adolescents in socially weak areas and Pense Alto (“Think Big”), a professional integration program for young citizens.
Instituto da Criança supports entrepreneurs in the development of social programs and institutions by applying the same methodology and expertise used to set up and manage its own programs.
The service offer involves strategic planning, installation and implementation of a pilot project as well as subsequent monitoring of its further development. In the long run, these initiatives can either turn into full IC programs or, once their organizational structure has matured, start working independently.
All supported institutions share the same main characteristics: they all promote the development of children and adolescents in situations of social risk, and directly or indirectly act alongside their parents.
The relationship with each supported institution is unique and depends on the context in which it gets integrated into Instituto da Criança’s structure and at which stage it is in its development.
